Give The Girls Their Flowers: Brittany Thompson

Production Coordinator/Casting Associate/ Storyteller

Wildflowers thrive in unexpected places—just like me

For Brittany Thompson, storytelling isn’t just what she does—it’s who she is. Whether she’s producing, casting, or curating content, she’s usually the one behind the scenes, making sure every moment is documented and every story is told the right way.

But when she was featured in New York Magazine’s The Lookbook: Goes Hypebeast Flea, the roles reversed—she wasn’t just capturing the story, she was the story. Seeing herself in the pages of a magazine was a full-circle moment, a reminder that the best opportunities often come when you least expect them.

In this feature, Brittany talks about navigating the entertainment industry, trusting her gut, and why taking up space—whether behind the scenes or in the spotlight—matters.

Let’s get into it.

TAKE UP SPACE.

〰️

TAKE UP SPACE. 〰️

Q: If your life was a novel, what would the title be?
Brittany: “Unscripted: The Art of Figuring It Out”

Q: What’s a moment in your life that felt like a main-character moment?
Brittany: “I’m usually the one behind the scenes, capturing content, highlighting others, and making sure the moment is documented. But being featured in New York Magazine’s The Lookbook: Goes Hypebeast Flea felt like my moment. Instead of curating the story, I was the story. Seeing myself in the magazine, being recognized for my style and presence—it was surreal. It was one of those moments where I had to step back and take it all in, like, yeah, this is really happening!”

Q: If you could describe yourself as a flower, which one would it be and why?
Brittany: “I’d say a wildflower resilient, adaptable, and always finding a way to bloom no matter where I’m planted. Wildflowers thrive in unexpected places, just like I do, constantly evolving, creating, and making the most out of every opportunity.”

Q: What’s a song that instantly makes you feel like that girl?
Brittany: “Bad Girl" by Usher instantly makes me feel like that girl I just want to dance.”

Q: What’s your go-to “romanticize your life” activity?
Brittany: “My go-to “romanticize your life” activity would definitely be taking a solo trip to somewhere new. Whether it’s a quick weekend getaway or an international adventure, I love exploring new places with no specific agenda—just wandering, discovering hidden gems, and soaking it all in.”

Q: What’s a small luxury you refuse to live without?
Brittany: “A good skincare routine is my small luxury that I refuse to live without! Taking the time to properly care for my skin feels like a mini spa moment every day.”

Your work ethic and aura are magnetic—when you walk into a room, you change the energy.

Q: If your younger self saw you today, what’s the first thing she’d say? Would she gag?
Brittany: “My younger self would definitely be like, "Wait, you’re doing what?" From flipping through magazine pages to actually working alongside shooting magazine covers. She’d be gagging, in the best way possible, just trying to take it all in. It’s crazy to see how far things have come!”

Q: What’s something people assume about you that’s totally wrong?
Brittany: “One thing people assume about me is that I have it all figured out all the time. Like, I’m constantly just vibing with everything perfectly planned, but in reality, I’m figuring it out just like everyone else! Things don’t always go as planned, and I embrace that chaos it's all part of the journey.”

Q: What’s a lesson you learned the hard way, but you’re grateful for?
Brittany: “A lesson I learned the hard way is that not every opportunity is meant for you, even if it seems perfect on paper. I’ve had moments where I pushed myself into situations that didn’t align with my values or where I was giving more than I was receiving. It taught me the importance of trusting my gut and setting boundaries now, I’m more selective and intentional with my energy and time. It’s a lesson I’m definitely grateful for!”

I WAS THE STORY.

Q: Who in your life has truly given you your flowers (figuratively or literally)?
Brittany: “My mom has definitely been the one who’s given me my flowers figuratively and literally! She’s always been my biggest cheerleader, reminding me of my worth and potential, even when I didn’t see it myself. She’s the first to celebrate my wins, big or small, and to keep me grounded through the tough times.”

Q: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone who doubted you?
Brittany: I’d tell them, “Keep watching, because I’m just getting started.” I'm an Aries + go getter the doubt doesn’t define me it fuels me. Every time someone questions me or my abilities, it only motivates me to push harder and prove that I’m capable of more than they imagined.

Q: What’s a fear you’ve conquered that you’re most proud of?
Brittany: “One fear I’ve definitely conquered is the fear of putting myself out there, especially in creative spaces.”

I’m an Aries + a go-getter—the doubt doesn’t define me, it fuels me.

Q:What’s your favorite book-to-flower pairing?
Brittany: “If The Coldest Winter Ever were a flower, I’d say it would be a deep red rose with sharp thorns.”

Q:What’s a fictional character (from a book, TV, or film) you know you’d be besties with?
Brittany: “Issa Dee from Insecure!”

Q: What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?
Brittany: “The best compliment I’ve ever received was when someone said, "Your work ethic and aura are magnetic. when you walk into a room, you change the energy." That really stuck with me because I put so much heart into everything I do, and to hear that it shows in how I carry myself means a lot. It’s all about the drive, but also about creating a positive, confident energy that others can vibe with.”

Q: If you could have a two-hour conversation with any woman (alive or passed), who would it be and what would you ask her?
Brittany: “If I could have a two-hour conversation with Issa Rae, I’d definitely ask her how she deals with canceled shows, failures, and the behind-the-scenes struggles that we don’t always see. I’d want to know how she maintains her resilience in the face of setbacks, how she bounces back from things not going as planned, and how she keeps pushing forward when the world isn’t always cheering her on..”

KEEP WATCHING, BECAUSE I'M JUST GETTING STARTED.

Q: If someone made a bouquet based on your energy, what flowers absolutely have to be in it?
Brittany: “If someone made a bouquet based on my energy, it would definitely have vibrant sunflowers, , and a touch of lavender. Sunflowers for their boldness and positivity, and lavender for that calming yet strong presence.

Q:If your personality was a fragrance, what would the top notes be?
Brittany: “Would definitely be the same as Kilian Paris Love, Don't Be Shy a blend of neroli, orange blossom, white floral, vanilla bergamot”

Q:What’s something you love that people wouldn’t expect?
Brittany: “Jurassic Park, Dinosaurs”

I don’t have it all figured out—I’m just making it work like everyone else

Q: If you could give yourself flowers for something you’ve done lately, what would it be?
Brittany: “I'd definitely give myself flowers for staying consistent with my creative projects, even when life gets hectic. I’ve been really focused on balancing everything—work, personal goals, family, friends and new ventures—and pushing through even on days when I didn’t feel like it.

Q:You just received a bouquet of flowers as a symbol of your impact—what’s the occasion and who sent them?
Brittany: “Just received the most beautiful bouquet from my mom. The occasion would be me producing my first ever short film.”

Q:What’s one thing you want more women to believe about themselves?
Brittany: “I want more women to believe that they are worthy of every opportunity that comes their way—no matter what. Don’t wait for permission to take up space or chase what you truly want. You’re capable, deserving, and you’ve got everything it takes to make it happen.”

Things don’t always go as planned, and I embrace that chaos it's all part of the journey.

For Brittany, life has been about trusting the process, seizing opportunities, and knowing that every step—whether behind the scenes or in the spotlight—matters.

She’s learned that not every opportunity is the right one, but the ones meant for her will always find their way.

And if there’s one thing she wants more women to believe, it’s this:

You are worthy of every opportunity that comes your way. Don’t wait for permission to take up space or chase what you truly want.
