For Michaella Phillips, known as Micky, her career in music isn’t just a job—it’s a purpose-driven journey rooted in passion, connection, and intention. From a young age, she knew she wanted to be in the music industry, and her younger self would be so proud to see her dreams unfold.
“We are doing exactly what we said we would be doing.” That’s what Micky would tell the little girl who dreamed of attending Howard University, building a successful career in music, and strengthening her relationship with God. She’s doing all that and more.
With an energy that’s warm, intentional, and deeply rooted in love, Micky is the type of woman who moves with purpose, builds genuine relationships, and never loses sight of what truly matters.

Q: If you could describe yourself as a flower, which one would it be and why?
Micky: “I would describe myself as a Tulip for many reasons. Tulips are a flower that symbolizes deep love. I always try to operate from a place of deep love and passion in all areas of my life.”
Q: What’s a song that instantly makes you feel like that girl?
Micky: “Vibrant Thing by Q-Tip. I always said if I had to pick any introduction song to a movie about me, it would be that record right there.”
Q: If your younger self saw you today, what’s the first thing she’d say? Would she gag?
Micky: “My younger self would be extremely proud of me and as cliche as it sounds, she would say “we are doing exactly what we said we would be doing.” Since a young girl I used to dream about doing many things including attending Howard University and having a successful career in music. I also had a relationship with God at a young age and she would be so pleased with how intimate her relationship with God has grown. I’m making strides in the areas that matter to me which is growing, building my confidence, and walking in my aligned purpose. Younger me would be so happy that we never lost sight of what we wanted!”

Q: Who in your life has truly given you your flowers (figuratively or literally)?
Micky: “My sisters always give me my flowers & I am forever grateful for them. I can always lean on them whenever I am feeling low or down and they remind of who I am when I may forget. Sisterhood is so important in my circle and we always give each other flowers.”
Q: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone who doubted you?
Micky: “Never bet against me again ❤️.”
Q: What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?
Micky: “You’re such a light in this world”. Whenever someone says that to me, it is something I don’t take lightly. I think that is the greatest compliment anyone has ever given to me because it allowed me to realize that no external compliment can measure to how you show up in this world.
Q: If you could have a two-hour conversation with any woman (alive or passed), who would it be and what would you ask her?
Micky: “It would be my grandma for sure. My grandma was my bestfriend and the advice she gave me at a young age was something that I will always cherish. As I continue to go through life, I could only imagine the things we would discuss. She inspired me in so many ways and left such a beautiful legacy.”

Q: What’s a fictional character (from a book, TV, or film) you know you’d be besties with?
Micky: “Issa MF Dee from Insecure. Love her down ❤️.”
Q: If someone made a bouquet based on your energy, what flowers absolutely have to be in it?
Micky: “Lillies for sure! I have such a special love for Lillie’s & they are also often associated with concepts like new beginnings which is very similar to the season I’m in right now. The way this specific flower blooms is like no other flower.”
Q:What’s something you love that people wouldn’t expect?
Micky: “I love collecting physical copies of art. In a world that’s become extremely digital, I love that I still collect old magazines, new magazines, physical prints, vinyls, and etc.”
Q:What’s one thing you want more women to believe about themselves?
Micky: “You are more than enough. Don’t let anyone or anything make you feel less than that. Always handle your business & prioritize your peace.”

For Micky, her journey is about love, purpose, and staying aligned with the dreams she’s always had. She’s built a career and a life rooted in intention, sisterhood, and knowing that she belongs in every room she steps into.
