Give The Girls Their Flowers: Tatiana ‘Yan’ Snead

Music Programmer | Cultural Curator

I've realized that if I'm invited to a space, it's because I bring value to that space AS I AM.

For Tatiana “Yan” Snead, this is more than a main-character moment—it’s a full transformation arc. She’s shedding the grayscale, coloring outside the lines, and showing up as her truest, boldest, and most grounded self.

In a world that often rewards code-switching and overextension, Yan is choosing authenticity, intentionality, and alignment. From R&B to Caribbean vibes, her curation goes beyond the playlist—it’s personal.

In this feature, Yan opens up about her return to self, the quiet power of choosing you, and the ways she’s rewriting her own rhythm.

Let’s get into

EVERYTHING YOU NEED IS WITHIN

EVERYTHING YOU NEED IS WITHIN 〰️

Q: What’s a moment in your life that felt like a main-character moment?
Yan “The current moment I'm experiencing now has felt like a main-character moment. I can't understate how much intention I've been putting into resurrecting my truest, most authentic, confident self. I've been forcing myself to do things outside of my norm like switch up my nail polish colors to dark tones instead of pinks and neutral tones and I stopped wearing black and greys all the time; I got a big ass butterfly tattoo that I can't hide on my neck, and I started going to the gym consistently. I've completely stopped prioritizing everyone above myself and it's going to be my main character season for a while.”

Q: What’s a song that instantly makes you feel like that girl?
Yan: “My, Myself & I - Beyonce”

Q: What’s your go-to “romanticize your life” activity?
Yan: “Trips to Island Spa to lay up in the sauna all day.”

I've completely stopped prioritizing everyone above myself and it's going to be my main character season for a while.

Q: What’s a small luxury you refuse to live without?
Yan: “Tretinoin Cream”

Q: Who in your life has truly given you your flowers (figuratively or literally)?
Yan: “God - every day I choose to continue down the path that I feel in my spirit He wants me on, I am rewarded with more abundance, more opportunities, more things to be grateful for, and the flowers don't get better than that.”

Q: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone who doubted you?
Yan: “You don't have to like someone to respect them.”

Q: What’s a fear you’ve conquered that you’re most proud of?
Yan: “I used to fear that I don't fit in within these music spaces because I don't code switch well and I've finally conquered that fear... which doubled as an insecurity to be honest. I've realized that if I'm invited to a space it's because I bring value to that space AS I AM, and I will always reach the right people when I show up without a mask.”

God—every day I choose to continue down the path that I feel in my spirit He wants me on, I am rewarded with more abundance.

Q: What’s your favorite book-to-flower pairing?
Yan “Bell Hooks - All About Love / Hibiscus

Q: Which book made you want to drag the author for emotional suffering?
Yan: “Coldest Winter Ever.

Q:What’s something you love that people wouldn’t expect?
Yan: “I own over 100 bottles of niche & luxury perfumes ”

Q:What’s one thing you want more women to believe about themselves?
Yan: Everything you need is within.”

Yan isn’t just living—she’s evolving. By turning inward, she’s uncovered the kind of peace that can’t be forced and the kind of power that doesn’t require performance.

She’s ditched the black-and-grey version of herself, made room for softness and stillness, and finally, let the light in.

"Everything you need is within."
