Give The Girls Their Flowers: Shana Sherman

Figure out what you have to prove and to who… because the only person I’m proving anything to is the life I carried and created.

For Shana Sherman, every day is a chance to show up as her best self—as a mother, as a music executive, and as a woman defining success on her own terms.

Every moment, every day I wake up, it's my time to be the best woman, best mother, figure out my flaws and weaknesses, and put myself first in a world that always needs

Like an orchid, Shana thrives in any environment. She understands the seasons of blooming, resting, and blooming again, embracing the patience and resilience required to grow. From navigating the music industry to ensuring her family is well taken care of, she moves with purpose, grace, and a touch of luxury—because, as she says, “I really deserve a chauffeur, but I’ll shut up for now.”

In this feature, Shana reflects on lessons learned, finding balance, and the power of giving yourself grace.

Let’s get into it.

Q: If your life was a novel, what would the title be?
Shana: “I Just Can't Tell it All”

Q: What’s a moment in your life that felt like a main-character moment?
Shana: “Every Moment, Every day I wake up. It's my time to be the best woman, best mother, figure out my flaws , weaknesses, and figure out how to put me first in a world that always needs and remind myself I am my main character and this is my book.”

Q: If you could describe yourself as a flower, which one would it be and why?
Shana: “An Orchid- they live long, have periods where they bloom and rest then bloom again. They thrive in any area in any environment but with a little bit of sun they stay alive.. vibrant, beautiful, and require patience.”

Shana: “Right now in this moment Yes it is by Leon Thomas”

Q: What’s your go-to “romanticize your life” activity?
Shana: “Ohhhh a fit and dinner for sure I might even hop on a flight for a good dinner with a little drinky drink.

Q: If your younger self saw you today, what’s the first thing she’d say? Would she gag?
Shana: “Absolutely! Have fell short of some of my young girl goals. But I'm doing it. I'm happy, I'm successful in my own grace, I'm a great mom. My family is taken care of well provided for, I live a peaceful life.”

Q: What’s something people assume about you that’s totally wrong?
Shana: “I've confronted so many assumptions I'm tired. But everyone can be wrong id like to live in the world where everyone loves me cause if you don't whose loss is it? Not mine. I am full of prayer, reading my Bible praying so anything anyone thought of me previously *throwing up hands in the purple shirt emoji*”

Q: Who in your life has truly given you your flowers (figuratively or literally)?
Shana: “I think I've received a lot of flowers but I think the young women in my life who truly follow and look up to me.. students, little cousins, random emails, linked in messages like those make me do a little dance and smile. Likeeee thank yall. I feel old but I love it”

Q: What’s a lesson you learned the hard way, but you’re grateful for?
Shana: “Having a baby father, but grateful for the baby. Lol. Nothing wrong with healthy co- parenting but ladies I promote the idea of a happy household with two happy parents because being a single mother isn't always easy. Also. Just listening, take the time and really listen to people observe what they say and then make your own decisions I spent 30+ years being hard-headed not cute at all.”

Shana: “Not being able to provide once I became a mother and not being financially stable. Now that I am here and I did the financial part on my own, was able to save and put my son in an amazing school and set him up in ways my parents didn't know how I couldn't be more proud. That's the goal.”

Q: What’s a quote or mantra you think is a total scam?
Shana: “The girls who say they are a "girls girl" and just are not girls girls at all. Please don't fake like me. I know I've rubbed some people the wrong way being myself, I know Im not always right but I'm also not about to smile in anyone's face if you don't like women don't like them OUT LOUD. Don't be fake. Don’t give fake flowers.”

The only flowers I care about are the ones I give myself. I’ve learned to celebrate me

Q: What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?
Shana: “You are the best mommy.

Q: If you could have a two-hour conversation with any woman (alive or passed), who would it be and what would you ask her?
Shana: Whitney Houston I would just sit and talk to that lady I have so much to ask.”

Q: If someone made a bouquet based on your energy, what flowers absolutely have to be in it?
Shana: “Roses, carnations, Hydrangeas, peonies, and maybe add a calla lily!

Q:If your personality was a fragrance, what would the top notes be?
Shana: “Any hermes,Oud & Killian scent they are just loud but subtle... they step in the room before you even enter.”

Q:What’s something you love that people wouldn’t expect?
